Description

This video demonstrates common home-kitchen mistakes that can lead to dangerous cross-contamination events and discusses best practices to safely prepare foods at home. Everyone loves a home-cooked meal. You know exactly what’s in your food, you can make it healthier, tastier, and you can even save money. However, due to our comfort level of cooking within our own homes, safe food handling practices are not often followed which can result in an increased incidence of food-borne illness. Cross-contamination is the transfer of harmful bacteria to food from other foods, cutting boards, utensils, etc., if they are not handled properly. This is especially true when handling raw meat, poultry, and seafood, so keep these foods and their juices away from already cooked or ready-to-eat foods and fresh produce.
