Green Fluorescent Protein (GFP)
Overview
In this lesson, we’ll look at the production of Green Fluorescent Protein. GFP is used as a biological marker, and when attached to a drug it can provide researchers with a visual story of where the drug goes. It's a fluorescent dye that's very well tolerated by most cells and doesn't interfere with normal cellular function.
Objectives

Upon completion of this exercise, you will be able to:

  1. Explain the use of GFP and its benefits
  2. Describe the general process used for GFP production
  3. Define the three main phases of Green Fluorescent Protein (GFP) production
  4. Understand why GFP is a valuable component in drug manufacturing
