BioNetwork Virtual Career Fair
BioNetwork Virtual Career Fair
Wednesday, August 4, 2021 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM EDT

Step 1: Reserve your spot

BioNetwork is partnering with our biopharma company and staffing agency partners to host our fifth BioNetwork Virtual Career Fair. The North Carolina biopharma industry is growing quickly and over 100 jobs will be available through this event.

Before attending the event:

  • Existing community college students:
    • Submit your resume for review to your community college contact.
    • If you attended the Merck Virtual Career Fair in June, your resume has already been approved. You may move to Step 3 and will receive a separate email with registration information after July 15th.
  • Community college alumni are also eligible for this professional resume review.

All other candidates:

  • Please review our Creating Your Biopharma Resume series for helpful industry-specific tips.
  • Candidates not affiliated with the NC Community College system can move to Step 3 and will receive a separate email with registration information after July 13th.
Attend a webinar

Candidates who attend at least one webinar are more successful and less frustrated on the platform and report a better VCF experience. Each webinar will be offered twice, beginning with a morning session followed by a repeat of the session in the evening.

  • Pro tips for the BioNetwork Virtual Career Fair
Join Susan Kaple, BioNetwork’s Career Development Coordinator, for pro tips on how to make the most of the BioNetwork Virtual Career Fair. Topics covered include a platform walkthrough and pro tips for scheduled chat and video chat. Advanced LinkedIn and job research best practices will also be discussed.

Prepare for the Virtual Career Fair

Candidates will connect with company representatives via 10 minute text or video chats. Make the most your time by reviewing these helpful resources:

Apply for company positions

  • Successful candidates often apply for positions ahead of the VCF.
  • Use your finalized resume to apply for positions ahead of the event if you wish.
  • Visit the SAM Test page for more information about the SAM Test.

Pro tips for video chats:

  • Be in a quiet place, preferably with a headset or earbuds.
  • Choose a professional background or environment. Remember, what’s behind you will be visible on camera.
  • Attire should be neat and orderly – business casual or business professional is fine.

Once the event portal opens for sign-up, you will receive an email with the registration link. Please note, this link is for you only and not to be shared. Registration emails will begin going out on July 15th. If you have an approved resume and have not received your registration email by July 20th, please contact us at: career-fair@ncbionetwork.org.

When registering on the portal:

  1. Register from a device that can access your resume.
  2. Use consistent and professional contact information:
    1. Register using the same name and professional email address from your resume.
    2. Check your professional email address regularly for updates.
  3. Submit your resume in PDF format.
    1. You will not be fully registered until you have uploaded your resume.
    2. You will receive a confirmation email from Brazen when you are fully registered.

Pro tips:

  • Submit your final resume as early as possible.
  • Companies will review resumes ahead of the event.
  • Event communication and scheduled chat invitations will be sent to the email address you provide on the registration form.
  • Some companies will send scheduled chat invitations to select candidates with resumes on the platform well in advance.

Think of scheduled chat invites like fast passes–you can avoid the long lines and talk to the representatives at a predetermined, scheduled time–but only if your resume is on the platform in advance.

The online event portal will open promptly on Wednesday, August 4th at 3:00pm ET and will close at 6pm ET. Use your registration email to log in and access the lobby. Once in the lobby, you can begin joining conversation queues to speak with company representatives.

Pro tips:

  • Strong internet connectivity is critical. Make sure you are in a location with good internet.
  • Be professional. This is a formal interview screening process.
  • Remember that each conversation session is limited to 10 minutes, so be succinct
and efficient with your time and responses.
  • Be aware of your background. If your camera can see it, so can the interviewer.
  • If you accepted a Scheduled Chat invitation, be sure you are on the platform at least five minutes prior to the start of your Scheduled Chat.

If you have difficulty accessing the portal, check out the Student Resources on the BioNetwork/Brazen resources page. You can also submit a support ticket to the Brazen support team through this page.

If you are seeing four dots moving in a circle, but nothing else happens, try clearing your browser cache. You can also try using Chrome or Firefox as the platform tends to perform better on those browsers. Please note the Internet Explorer browser does not support the virtual portal.
