ESTEAM Expo opens doors to kids’ future careers

FLETCHER, NC – Doors to the future were opened for young students Saturday as they built rockets, tried scientific experiments and learned about the fulfilling careers that await them if they choose to go into one of the STEM fields of science, technology, engineering and math when they grow up.

The ESTEAM Expo at the WNC Agricultural Center took the concept of STEM education a step farther, adding entrepreneurship and art to the well-known acronym and using the expanded moniker to bolster its goal of “building confidence today for the careers of tomorrow.”

The expo, co-hosted by The Science House of N.C. State University, BioNetwork and A-B Tech’s Business Acceleration Site at Enka, featured hands-on projects, demonstrations and information from area colleges and ESTEAM-related businesses and organizations.
