Natural products have become an increasingly important industry for North Carolina in recent years. Visit Blue Ridge Community College and tour Gaia Herbs' facilities in Brevard to see how herbal supplements are made from start to finish. Learn about their unique program in which they trace the history of each of the herbal components in their products, and how the science behind their validation processes can be incorporated into your curriculum.
To solidify the connections between public education classrooms and industry, BioNetwork has created the Industry Driven Educational Activities (IDEA) series of workshops for educators. Each of these workshops will be a single-day clinic which provide participants with hands-on experiences in an industry setting and allow them to create standards-based, industry-relevant activities for their students.
