
BioWork: Bioprocessing Technician Certification
BioWork is an introductory course preparing students for entry-level technician positions in biotechnology, pharmaceutical, and chemical manufacturing. It is intended for high school graduates, traditional manufacturing workers who have lost jobs, or anyone interested in a new line of work. BioWork provides an overview of quality systems; explains critical OSHA requirements, and personal protective clothing and equipment. It also provides training with process diagrams, metric system, adjusting pH, reading gauges, making chemical solutions, preparing growth media, following an SOP and completing a batch record. Graduates are qualified to take the Bioprocessing Technician Certification Exam. Prerequisites: High school diploma or GED, basic computer literacy and attendance at one of two scheduled information sessions: August 20th or Sept. 1st, 10 am – 12 pm.
